Y'see, this Xmas break, I really started becoming interested in Hogwarts during Deathly Hallows and one thing led to another, and before I knew what was what, a gaggle of plot bunnies were nesting in my head. And ever since, I've been doing some thinking about what was going on while the Trio was out camping (srsly, was that necessary, JKR? 200 pages of camping? Really?) and was making up a list of what I'd like to see from that school year.
Now. This is where you lovely people come in.
I'd like to get crackalackin' on that fic of the soon, but first, I'm thinking a little research (or at least discussion) is warranted, don't you? So. In as many words (or comments) as you need/find appropriate...I'd really like to hear your thoughts on what was going on at Hogwarts during Deathly Hallows. I know that we know a bit about what happened, but...perhaps you're seeing something I haven't even thought of. It's definitely worth an ask.
So, without much more ado...discuss!
A loud, long wail cuts through the silence at dinner, and all movement in the Great Hall stops at once. The sound echoes for forever, it seems, a chorus of endless, anguished cries.
Neville can feel the heat of hundreds of eyes on him, suddenly, on the empty seat next to him. His gaze quickly flicks to the Head Table. Alecto Carrow is wearing a devilish, disgusting smirk that twists her mouth. She lifts her goblet into the air in praise of her brother’s handiwork, all smugness and radiating satisfaction; Neville's grip on his fork tightens, knuckles going white.
Snape sets down his silverware and stares at his plate for a brief moment, as though contemplating its existence. In a blink, it's gone, replaced by a menacing scowl that he now turns on the students, his black eyes flashing dangerous in the candlelight. A scowl, thinks Neville, that once inspired such paralyzing fear in him he can’t help but laugh sometimes. But not now.
Not when Amycus has Ginny.
I've collected somewhat of a series of these over the last few weeks. They get darker than this. Much. (Also, for the record, they have an underlying Neville/Ginny vibe, but it's a blurry line between being lovers and being friends, at times, as we all know in the HP fandom.) I need to know, before I share any more, how this is working for you.
